Successes and mistakes when using hyaluronic acid

Hydrate your skin effectively and genuinely

Hyaluronic acid is one of the most well-known active ingredients in cosmetics.

It is present in countless serums, creams, and treatments and has become almost indispensable when we talk about hydration.

However, its popularity does not mean it is always used correctly. In the salon, we see it very often: skin that uses hyaluronic acid daily... and still feels tight or dehydrated.

The difference is usually not in the product, but in how it is integrated into the skincare routine.

What hyaluronic acid can really do for your skin

Hyaluronic acid is a humectant.

Its function is not to provide water itself, but to attract and retain it in the epidermis.

When used correctly, it helps to:

  • Keep the skin supple and comfortable.

  • Reduce the sensation of tightness.

  • Improve the skin's response to subsequent treatments.

But its real effectiveness depends not only on its presence in the formula, but on when and how it is applied.

The expert tip that makes all the difference: damp skin

One of the most repeated, and also most ignored, recommendations is to apply hyaluronic acid on slightly damp skin.

Why do we insist so much on this? Because hyaluronic acid needs available water to function.

Applying it after toner following cleansing allows it to capture that moisture and retain it for hours in the epidermis.

When applied to dry skin, especially in dry or heated environments, the opposite of what we are looking for can happen: hyaluronic acid can draw water from deeper layers of the skin itself, increasing the sensation of tightness instead of relieving it.

In other words: it dries out the skin.

Common mistakes when using hyaluronic acid

Applying it to completely dry skin

Under these conditions, hyaluronic acid can draw water from inner layers of the skin, leading to superficial dehydration and an increased sensation of tightness.

Not sealing the hydration

Hyaluronic acid is not occlusive.

It needs a subsequent step in the form of an oil serum and a cream to help maintain that hydration in the skin and prevent water loss.

Expecting an immediate and visible effect

Real hydration is not always noticed instantly.

Especially when it is made from natural ingredients and plant extracts.

It is perceived with continued use, in more stable, comfortable skin with better response capacity. This is what differentiates us from synthetics.

“Because hydrating today is caring for how your skin will look tomorrow.”

Truths and myths about hyaluronic acid

“The thicker the texture, the more it hydrates”

Not necessarily.

Many formulas resort to thickeners to create an immediate gel sensation that provides body, but this does not always translate into more effective hydration.

In some cases, these agents can leave residue, form small "balls" or hinder the correct absorption of subsequent products. And this is very noticeable when you want to apply makeup and have the foundation look uniform.

Well-formulated watery formulas tend to integrate better into the skin and facilitate functional hydration.

“It hydrates on its own”

The answer is no.

Hyaluronic acid needs to be integrated into a complete ritual to function correctly.

Applying it after toner and then following up with a serum and cream helps maintain hydration in the skin and prevent its loss.

Further down, you will find, clearly and simply, a usage scheme based on our Nasei Balance Method, designed to easily integrate it into your daily morning and evening routine.

“All skin types absorb it the same way”

Skin that is rarely exfoliated will have a significant accumulation of dead cells.

There are also cases of faces with unbalanced pH, which can lead to poorer absorption of any hydrating active ingredient.

And above all, very importantly, if your skin lacks natural lipids, meaning oil, you will feel little sensation of supple skin if you do not add a good oil serum or simply avoid them for fear of shine.

Aesthetician's word.

Exfoliation also influences hydration

Gentle, periodic exfoliation helps remove dead cells and improves the skin's ability to absorb moisturizing treatments.

It's not about exfoliating more, but about doing it right.

As a general guideline:

  • A gentle physical exfoliation, once a month. We are referring to exfoliants with granules: jojoba, fruit peel, olive...

  • A chemical exfoliation with AHAs and/or BHAs, once or twice a month, depending on the skin's condition. Here you will recognize them by acids such as salicylic, malic, lactic, mandelic, glycolic...

Clean and renewed skin better receives water and responds better to hyaluronic acid.

From the salon and from formulation

After more than twenty years working with skin, one thing is clear: hydration is not imposed, it is built.

That's why we insist on:

  • Slightly damp skin.

  • Watery textures that the skin recognizes.

  • Routines that don't overwhelm, but support.

From formulation, we seek the same: to create products that do not force the skin, but work with it, respecting its rhythm and natural way of absorbing and retaining water.

Nasei Balance Method · Hydration with discernment

Understanding how hyaluronic acid works is the first step. Integrating it well into your daily routine is what makes the difference.

In the Nasei Balance Method, hydration is built from the ground up, respecting the order and moment when the skin best receives each step.

1 · Cleanse

A gentle cleanse removes impurities without disturbing the skin barrier, either with our cleansing milk or cleansing balm.

2 · Balance and hydrate

The toner prepares the skin and provides the necessary moisture. You will love the floral or soothing toners made from medicinal plant hydrolates.

While the skin is still slightly damp, apply the watery serum. This is where our new launch comes in: the hydrating serum with pomegranate, rose, and orange blossom.

3 · Nourish

Specific treatments are incorporated according to the skin's actual condition.

Nutritive, antioxidant, or soothing, our oil-based serums.

4 · Seal

The ritual is completed with a cream that helps maintain hydration for hours.

If you like facial creams that keep your skin stable throughout the day, our best-selling rose, geranium, and lavender cream will enchant you.

However, if you want extra luminosity, the vitamin C, orange, and palmarosa cream will be your best choice.

It's not about applying more products, but about respecting the balance and purpose of each step.

Changing the approach to facial care

Hydrating the skin is not about applying more product, it's about understanding how it receives what we give it.

When hyaluronic acid is integrated into a balanced and sustained routine, hydration ceases to be a temporary effect and becomes a state.

Deep hydration that lasts over time.

Because when hydration works, it doesn't need to be noticed. It's felt.

And additionally, I'd like to share some wonderful news: immediately after launching the new pomegranate, rose, and orange blossom hydrating serum, we were awarded as a finalist serum in the 2026 UNIVERSAL BEAUTY AWARDS. These awards will be announced on February 1st.

We are thrilled!
